Raised by a family of wolves since birth, Mowgli (Neel Sethi) must leave the only home he's ever known when the fearsome tiger Shere Khan (Idris Elba) unleashes his mighty roar. Guided by a no-nonsense panther (Ben Kingsley) and a free-spirited bear (Bill Murray), the young boy meets an array of jungle animals, including a slithery python and a smooth-talking ape. J'ai été complètement bluffé par la qualité visuelle et par ce que ce film améliore par rapport à l'original. Il ajoute plus d'action, d'aventure, se rapproche du livre de base et garde quand même un côté Disney sans tout mettre par terre. Et c'est très rare pour un remake de rester fidèle et d'améliorer en même temps et que ça tienne parfaitement debout. 10/10

One of the rare times when a live action movie improves upon the movie it is remaking. But this movie certainly did that, with beautiful CGI, wonderful writing, and a magical Disney feeling elevates this wonderful movie to the best live action adaptation Disney has made, but there is one thing that brings it down for me. I wish that we could have gotten some more of the song we loved in the original. I’m not talking like the Elephant March song but like the Vultures or Trust in Me. Even just a little bit of the song would have satisfied me. The thing is they also recorded a Trust in Me for the soundtrack, but didn’t even put it in the movie! Despite my one criticism I definitely loved this movie and think that it is definitely worth a watch.

It is, without a doubt, one of the best live-action films Disney has ever made. The movie manages the feat of rivaling the classic animated version in many respects, thanks to revolutionary visual effects that bring impressive life and photorealism to the animals and the jungle. Jon Favreau perfectly balances the nostalgia of the iconic songs with an atmosphere that is far more mature, tense, and dangerous. Anchored by an excellent performance from young Neel Sethi and a stellar voice cast, it is a visual spectacle with immense soul.
