With The Mosquito Bowl, Berg throws so much violence at us that it comes to feel like padding, while the depiction of the Mosquito Bowl itself, the core of the movie, is pure joy. Go to Full Review

I've never been more ready for a football game to be cinematically stirring, and more disappointed that it amounted to a supercut. Go to Full Review

While The Mosquito Bowl occasionally gestures at sharp tonal shifts, watching the movie is a monotonous, overbearing wallow, with the occasional breaks from numbing violence filled with equally flat dramatized sports play. Go to Full Review

Even with several big-scale set-pieces, filmmaker Peter Berg keeps the tone intensely personal, drawing out resonant emotions as young men in their prime are sent off to an obscure corner of the world to kill anonymous enemies. Go to Full Review

The Mosquito Bowl has solid craftsmanship but nothing new to say about football, war, or the bonds formed by either. Go to Full Review

The film opens with President Herbert Hoover’s well-known statement in a speech at the 1944 RNC: "Older men declare war. But it is the youth that must fight and die." Berg clearly intended the film’s hyper-violence to be a reminder of that fact. Go to Full Review

PapaRu 4 hrs ago Great movie with unknown actors, at least to me. I appreciate the psychological aspect of war and what men of that era our greatest generation. I sat at the end and wondered how many of today’s football all Americans would go to war if we were attacked and give up fame and fortune for their country. As a veteran I appreciate and admire each and everyone who has served and answered the call when did. The trauma some experience is saddening and pitiful. That they endured for the sake of their country and fellow citizens. So many young men gave their lives for the belief that they could make a difference. Today’s young men should take notice of this movie because a big war is knocking on our door presently. Very gorey movie too. good story line just needed to build on it. See more Jon 1 day ago The acting and scenes were great, and the real stories of the men portrayed were incredible. I just wish the movie had stayed more faithful to those stories. The liberties taken with the screenplay were so glaring that they overshadowed an otherwise powerful film. See more Linda 1 day ago Way too real for me See more Noelle 2 days ago Incredible visuals… feels like you are literally present in the tranches with them. So realistic. Emotional and thought provoking. Must be seen in the big screen. TV at home is not going to do this film justice. See more Lesly 2 days ago Phenomenal. Definitely a must watch!
