Astrid Thompson finally succeeds in fulfilling her father’s dream: to bring together four Stradivarius for a unique concert, eagerly expected by music lovers around the world. But Lise, George, Peter, and Apolline, the four virtuosos recruited for the occasion, are incapable of playing together. The rehearsals are one ego crisis after another. With no solution in sight, Astrid decides to go and find the only person who, in her eyes, can still save the event: Charlie Beaumont, the composer of the score.

Modest in scope, it ultimately conveys, at its best, the unifying joy that great music-making can inspire. Go to Full Review

...this is a film that fundamentally addresses teamwork and the need to set aside a portion of individuality for the sake of the work. In this sense, the film offers no surprises, either narratively or in terms of plot. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

It's not a film that will generate too many surprises, but it's constructed with the welcome professionalism that French cinema almost always displays in any of its variations. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

The Musicians is a formulaic film, one whose ingredients can be traced and, therefore, determine the final result without much effort. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

The premise of the film is incredibly fascinating. It’s very rare to see classical music on the big screen, let alone with such a pivotal role in the narrative. Go to Full Review

Martin C Aug 24 Great music, if you lik classical. Story about a woman who completes the purchase of a full set of Stradivarius strings, 2 violins, a viola and cello. She then follows her deceased father’s wish to have a quartet play a custom written piece for the instruments. The interactions of the musicians, and later the composer are the crux of the movie. Intriguing characters and conflicting styles drive the plot, good dialogue, but just overall characters and the music made this one of my favorites this year. The portrayal of four distinct characters coming together to form a quartet was marvelous, Their interactions were honest and sometimes touching, sometimes hilarious. The dedication of the daughter to the Stradivari instruments that her father coveted was touching and meaningful. 5 stars to the makers of this movie: the actors, director, cinematographer, musicians, and definitely the script writer., Definitely a Five Star movie to me!
