This steely British import examines the cost of male-bonding rituals...it's nice to see a horror movie really go for it in the home stretch. Go to Full Review

Solid horror movie that leaves you with a little bit of something extra to think about at the end. How does fear affect your day-to-day life? Does fear control you, make you worship it? Go to Full Review

Wayne K @RT88290232 4d The Ritual could easily have been another rote, woods-based slasher full of tiresome jump scares and bloody-as-Hell kills. Instead it’s a well-paced, theme-heavy character study about a group of middle-aged friends, well past their youth but far from old age, taking a deeply regrettable hiking trip in which insecurities and demons of the past are brought to the surface. It’s about the mistakes and bad choices we make and how much they haunt us. So many of the characters die because of their own poor judgement, and our lead is put through the ringer for the kind of action that we all tell ourselves we wouldn’t commit, but in the moment its impossible to know what we’d do. The filmmakers make the wise choice not to artificially amp up the scares, since the environment and rarely seen antagonist do that more than well enough. It’s a film I hope more people discover, so they can have the same great viewing experience that I did. See more Gregory M. @Gregory780 Apr 26 This movie is over glazed. It really only took the time to develop one of the characters and the rest were just stand ins to get killed for shock value but I will say that this movie deserves the recognition because of its great and terrifying monster design. See more Timothy P @timop1919 Apr 20 It turns out good but the beginning made it necessary to suspend belief. 1. The trip sounded awful to begin with, wouldn't be interested. 2. They wouldn't have killed the first guy if he just gave them the ring (not a spoiler) and this the whole movie never had to begin. See more Adam A @GokuSuperSayan Apr 19 Not recommended at all, big waste of time this movie should be removed from Netflix See more Melissa T @RT55924403 Apr 19 I thought this movie was ridiculous…not worth the I think hour it took to play. Watched it for my birthday and chose to finish it begrudgingly because I started it, mostly just to get to see this "monster"…and still that was a waste…at the end of the day, if you read this before watching…don’t waste your time..if your reading this after…I’m sorry you wasted your time. See more S K @SeanK Mar 22 Don't know how this rated so highly because it's the biggest load of tripe that I have watched in a long long time. Basically 4 guys walking through a forest getting picked off 1 by 1 by the most rediculous looking monster ever. A low budget film that should never have seen the light of day!!!!
