Based on a true story, TOW follows Amanda Ogle (Rose Byrne), a woman living in her aging Toyota Camry on the streets of Seattle. When her car -- her only lifeline -- is stolen and impounded, Amanda is thrust into a relentless legal battle against an indifferent system. What begins as a fight to reclaim her car evolves into a deeply human story of resilience, dignity, and the power of one woman's voice in the face of systemic failure.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

A humble story of persistence given outsized punch by Rose Byrne's spiky performance, Tow parks itself comfortably in the company of genuinely life-affirming dramas.

“Tow” is a minor indie that doesn’t always make the right moves, but Byrne seizes her character and turns the question of whether you like her or not into the film’s dramatic motor. Go to Full Review

Even when her film dips into melodrama, Rose Byrne grounds her portrayal of an unhoused woman living in her car a humanity that feels detailed and true. Go to Full Review

Amanda is smart and funny but also entirely unfiltered and a bit of a mess, and we don’t entirely know why until a long, beautifully delivered monologue late in the film. Go to Full Review

Based on an earnest true story, a stacked ensemble cast and solid production values only slightly elevate "Tow" (2025), which features a television movie narrative that spreads itself thin and simultaneously feels rushed and too slow. Go to Full Review

It is because of Byrne’s formidable acting skills that we find Amanda to be simultaneously petty, hot-headed, and short-sighted while also lovable, endearing, and empathetic. Go to Full Review

Byrne’s ability to explore what it’s like to watch someone continually falling and failing to hit bottom is bracing, devastating, and often, funny, even when those quips are masking an obvious amount of pain, sadness, and projection. Go to Full Review

Fatou B 1d I can watch Rose Byrne read the telephone book. She made me laugh, she made me cry, she’s so fantastic. I truly enjoyed this film. And Demi Lovato sings too. See more A M. @filmcuts 17h Enjoyed this film, great cast obviously. If this film excels anywhere it's in showing how shelters in Seattle work or a specific part of the legal system works. I'm not sure that alone will sell many people on seeing the film. Perhaps a better reason to support indie films. See more Rich L. @Richard810 20h It was ok! Rose bryne is just outstanding in this film. Sad story See more Todd T. @toddat 1d A little uneven at times but maybe that’s the point of what the character has to go through. Corbin Bernsen is getting pretty good at playing completely unlikable characters. See more Christina A @Senioraudience1234 2d I can understand what the movie was trying to do but in my opinion the main theme got to broad in the script. Acting was very good but to many cooks in the kitchen destroy the dinner there are like 7 major human rights and other issues they try to include in one scripted movie. See more Read all reviews
