Critics Consensus

Though Two Weeks Notice has nothing new to add to the crowded genre, Hugh Grant and Sandra Bullock make the movie a pleasant, if predictable, sit.

It is not so bad as to make you dash for the door. But you would not have missed much if you never entered the hall at all.

Predictable romantic comedy.

Time Out

Structurally, the film's off-kilter. The start of the relationship is rushed through, while the supposedly crucial notice period feels increasingly directionless. Which leaves the comic strand - and that, by and large, delivers.

Bullock plays an environmental attorney who boasts that she’s like a "bobcat" and a "pretzel" in the sack — this is in direct opposition to the movie itself, which is more like a defanged kitten and a soggy cracker.

Its utter prototypicality is tiresome, and its weird plotting and characterisation preclude it from gaining the simplified happy ending it proposes it has arrived at.

Life, love and romance. Timeless. Classic. And very very funny when you've only got Two Weeks Notice.

I love the chemistry between Sandra Bullock and Hugh Grant, and it's quite funny for a romance film. Unfortunately it is also full of clichés and it is definitely offensive to women. Plus Trump makes a cameo 🤢

Hugh Grant romance movies have always been a favorite of mine. I rewatched this movie today after picking it up cheap at a thrift store, and it did not disappoint. The banter between Hugh Grant and Sandra Bullock is classic.

Two Weeks Notice is a light, charming rom-com that succeeds mainly because of its leads. Sandra Bullock brings warmth, wit, and relatability to Lucy Kelson, making her easy to root for even when the script feels thin. Hugh Grant is clearly in his comfort zone as the arrogant-but-lovable George Wade, and his chemistry with Bullock carries the film through its predictable beats. The story itself is simple and very much a product of its era, with jokes and plot turns that don’t always land by today’s standards. The screenplay has flaws and could have benefited from tighter pacing and sharper development, but it never becomes unpleasant. While it’s not especially memorable or endlessly rewatchable, Two Weeks Notice delivers a cozy, humorous experience. It’s a cute, easy watch that works best when you let it be exactly what it is.

Something about this whole film just seems a bit cliche, but that doesn't mean it's not enjoyable to watch
