It’s inventive and atmospheric, just not entirely coherent. Go to Full Review

If you are going to see one post-apocalyptic, low-tech French-Lithuanian-Belgian film in English this year with Eddie Marsan as the heavy, make sure it’s this one. Go to Full Review

A dramatically uneven but imaginatively vivid feat of post-apocalyptic world-building that flips the script on so many other stories like it. Go to Full Review

Despite the fact that this indie project lacked the financial resources of some of Hollywood’s big-budget post-apocalyptic, action-heavy films, the filmmakers exceed expectations in terms of world-building, stunning visual effects, and storytelling. Go to Full Review

It’s a fascinating film that discusses the reality and survival of the world through a much deeper lens with otherworldly visuals. Go to Full Review

Johnny 10/04/2022 Unique spin on post apocalyptic world See more Frank K 10/01/2022 Amazing worldbuilding and lovely effects. Thought provoking. See more Harris M. 09/30/2022 A mesmerizingly beautiful piece of worldbuilding. A wholly original Sci-fi epic. See more Par H @Parhwy 2d Vesper (2022) is a 115-minute-long film I saw on Prime in March 2026. Filmed in Lithuania and produced by companies from Lithuania, France and Belgium. This took me two, split viewings, only because my mood initially was not up for the dank, dark, hard story. It is a post-apocalyptic story. Life is goddamn bleak. The interior and exterior sets convey this constantly. Occasionally, we get Avataresque vibrancy. There is love and resilience. Camera framing and movement is great. CGI, elegant. I loved the seed-shaped bags of production. As much as I feared and loathed Jonas, Eddie Marsan was great. The scene with the black stormtrooper-like hunters and the red-leaved plants was fun… until it lasted too long. Saying to not go out at night then… going out at night only minutes later was so dumb. I felt the ending was ambiguous, vague. Rewatch? No. Recommend? Yes. 6/10. See more DAVID W @RT79477118 Nov 23 A little bit uneven, but the scope of imagination was impressive and the creation of the dystopian world well done. A strong performance from the title character and it kept my attention and I found the message of hope and rebirth at the end of the film touching. See more Hal G @RT16553388 Jun 22 Much of my rating ties into the originality of the movie, it took some brave risks in telling this story as some of the events could turn viewers off. If you're a sci-fi geek and looking for something a little different, this might be a good movie for you since it has some fresh ideas and decent effects. My main complaint with the movie is that there was too much negativity at the start so you're dealing with a lot of bad stuff, some less-bad stuff, more bad stuff, maybe something good... etc.. They should have shown more of Vesper's biohacking skills or started with something positive rather than dismal. See more Read all reviews
