Claudio C @Claudio666 Jan 14 Strange Movie 12,199 – 13 Jan 2026 After the deaths of her parents poisoned by arsenic six years ago, 18-year-old "Merricat" Blackwood, her sister Constance and their disabled Uncle Julian live isolated in the family castle. Constance was accused of poisoning her parents but considered not guilty in her trial. Once a week, Merricat shops in the nearby village and is offended and bullied by the residents that hate and envy the family. Merricat has several magic spells in the real estate that do not protect her. When the gold digger Cousin Charles visits the family and seduces Constance interested in her money, the lives of the Blackwood family are affected. "We Have Always Lived in the Castle" (2018) is a strange movie that has different genres. It is difficult to like the story, but the cast is magnificent and it is also difficult to dislike the film. The mystery of who poisoned is predictable. My vote is seven. See more Joselyn g Dec 1 All though the top 2 reviews I spotted were interesting with like a 1 and a 1 1/2 star ratings I say this is 5 stars, Merricat is a great psychopath in this kinda genre with unreliable narrators. Yes some unreliable narrators are terrible, especially the female ones but the way they did Merricat in the movie was fantastic. I may not have liked the clothing choices for her character but other than that it was amazing, I love how there is a different kind of ending in the movie. I will never be the same and will never get this time back. I would rather be forced to watch Earnest Goes to Prison 100 times in a row, than suffer through this again. In fact, I might rather go to prison than be forced to watch this movie another time. That is all.
