For six summers, Barry's Bay was a magical place full of firsts for Percy Fraser, including first love—and first heartbreak. Ten years later, an unexpected tragedy brings Percy back to Barry's Bay, where she has to face the people, memories, and mistakes she thought she'd left behind, especially the one boy who changed her life forever—Sam Florek.

Six summers to fall in love. One moment to fall apart. A weekend to get it right—Carley Fortune’s bestseller is now a YA series for romantics of all ages, especially those who never got over the loss of "The Summer I Turned Pretty." Go to Full Review

I know it’s set in Canada, home of the maple, but, goodness, this show’s sugary sap gets sickly all too quickly, especially as it plays out to an impossibly bland and flavourless soundtrack of breathy, dirgey love songs. Go to Full Review

So besotted with its own heartbreak it forgets to sell the romantic fantasy that would make it worthwhile in the first place, it mainly serves to confirm that recapturing that The Summer I Turned Pretty magic is easier said than done. Go to Full Review

There’s nothing revolutionary or even unique about Every Year After. But the cast is charming enough and the setting is pictureseque enough to make the show a pleasant distraction for fans of romantic dramas. Go to Full Review

Dora S @RT15063068 7h Its super boring and slow burn is not a good description because theres no burning... The main character (percy) is the most shallow character and also everything you expect to happen IS gonna happen. I got super annoyed because nothing whatsoever was going on and the storyline was moving so slowly so i was always pressing the 10s forward button. Im telling you it's one of the most anticlimactic series i've watched recently with zero originality. There was no reason to go back and forth in the timeline all the fucking time. The only reason was that there's no plot. I'm really disappointed. If you wanna watch something while cleaning cool... but the cleaning part will be more stimulating. No shame to the actors i'm sure with a better script it would've been better. Basically the entire season could've happened in max 2 episodes See more liv A @layla14 14h this show felt like a less thought-out version of the summer i turned pretty, which says a lot because that show was barely stitched together with two hopes, half a dream, and duct tape. See more Sara B @Sassypants25 1d I’m not a book purist & I believe in building a fuller story to service a show, but this was not it. TBH, this show could’ve (should’ve) been a movie. The main couple do have chemistry and I appreciate what’s happening with the character Charlie, but there is too much other stuff happening to create a larger narrative and things don’t make sense and don’t hold up emotionally. A *MAJOR* plot point is changed that really affects the overall story and could’ve been shown in flashback. Charlie’s character loses so much heart and Sam is almost a villain at times. And poor Percy, forcing the changes makes other moments not make sense either. When things are able to play out from the book, it’s so beautiful, but it’s few and far between. The yearning is there but we have almost PG level intimacy and it feels edited down so we lose so much connection. Overall, it’s fine but not memorable or rebingable. The showrunner has gotten ahead of herself & may not get another season to finish the story See more riley B @RT21323584 1d Carly Fortune, blink twice if they held you captive during the entire making of this terrible adaptation of your five start book. See more Sude T @RT98576562 1d I am sick and tired of seeing cheating being romanticized. See more Aaliyah O. @hayilaa 2d 4.5/5 I’m happy with the adaptation, especially the ending. In the book, I viewed Percy differently, but I genuinely liked her portrayal in the adaptation. What I appreciated most was that it became more than just a friends-to-lovers story. It showed that sometimes the best thing you can do for yourself is walk away and find who you are outside of relationships. I also appreciated that Sam didn’t forgive Percy in the end. As women, I think we often yearn for love and want relationships to work out, even after heartbreak. That’s what made the ending feel so powerful. If Sam had forgiven Percy, it would have undermined the pain, heartbreak, and damage that their relationship caused. Instead, the adaptation showed that love isn’t always enough and that choosing yourself can be the healthier choice. I thought it did a great job portraying the reality of toxic relationships and the emotional impact they leave behind. Overall, I really enjoyed it. See more Read all reviews
