They were trying to make it seem like the characters had Dutch roots while getting every Dutch thing wrong. The mill was called something that was supposed to mean 'gentle breeze' in Dutch but the name wasn't even a Dutch word, like how hard is it to use google translate? The story was boring and was way too long. There was none of the whimsical feeling you normally get from a christmas movie. I found the lead actress’s performance to be particularly uninspiring, she seems to be as emotionally invested in the plot as the chunks of wood you see in the background.
