Larkin’s talent shines through her work as writer, director and lead actress in the film, bringing a sense of real, raw emotion that only someone with lived experience can. Larkin and her co-stars Mei Ichinose (Yui) and Lily Riley (Silvia) are exceptional and their real-life skills as competitive athletes make the story even more compelling. You truly get taken through what it's like worrying about health and fitness, careers, social pressures, friendships, and relationships all colliding together in positive and messy ways. This isn't a movie you just watch, you feel the experiences of the characters...the good, the ugly, and the uncomfortable. Any parent of young athletes, or even current young athletes could learn so much from this film. A great storytelling experience, looking forward to more from Jane. Watching their individual journeys unfold felt incredibly real and refreshing. As a female athlete myself, I found pieces of myself in each of them and deeply connected to the way their characters evolved over time. The film beautifully captures how passionate we can become about the sports we love, sometimes to the point where they define us. But it also serves as an important reminder that we are more than our performance, more than our discipline. There is so much else that shapes who we are and what truly matters in life.
