The Plastic Detox uses some fearmongering to convince us of its assertions, but it balances it out with humor and hope. Bottom line, it’s informative, not manipulative. Go to Full Review

Laurie S @RT16844499 1d Great info if you wanna have a kid. This wasn't my journey. I didn't see this advertised for expectant parents only...however-amazing intel. Just-still sensitive, and sad-THIS wasn't me. Kind of makes me feel worse-I wasn't able to do it- but those were the cards I was dealt. Many documentaries forget US-the lost few in geriatric child bearing years that CANNOT bear children. We are ignored, but still understand the future and want to create a better world for our children even if they are not 'ours/mine'-can you include OTHERS who were never able to have kids learn lessons to reduce plastics in our lives? I stopped several times in the doc to think how I could resolve plastics in my life. It always turned to-I'm having a baby. I'm a teacher so I soak it all in. I was really lost in how I could use this educational piece for the advantage of anyone other than expectant parents. So, I'll google it now because I'll never see a documentary on my demographic trying to make a difference. See more William B. @wbott 2d I would like to more about how plastic affects the body other than lower sperm count. One dimensional movie. See more Ryan P @RT51430443 3d Honestly this documentary is a joke, as someone who’s worked in plastics for over 15 years. Automotive all the way down to making plastic water bottles. To sum it up for you, throw everything you own away sell your car throw away your clothes your phone and go live in the woods. Grow your own food and live off the land. That’s how to avoid plastics and our toxic food, this is just another documentary like them all on Netflix. Nothing is going to change, corporations are not going to change plastic is in everything. Your wallets and purses have plastic cards to buy things. Your vehicles are all plastic your phones are plastic. I’m sorry but 99.9% of the world won’t throw everything they own away and go live in the woods and hunt for their food. Just another pathetic documentary on Netflix trying to make a buzz. Won’t even make a splash in the pond See more A. P @RT88525518 4d Overall, this is a good watch. I don't think there is much "fearmongering", it is just a difficult truth that microplastics are everywhere and that they have a real effect on our health. However, I personally believed that building a stronger relationship with the couples could have made this a more engaging watch and made me feel more invested in the outcome of the studies. Learning more about their relationship, the difficulties of the lifestyle changes, and their life in general would have made this a better, more moving movie. Instead, it felt very surface-level, the only fact shared between the couples was the struggle of infertility. Other than that, there wasn't much personality shared, and knowing one of the couples, there was plenty of personality to be shared and related to. See more Diana D @RT00545817 5d At first glance, this is an intriguing one. The topic of microplastics and the effect on overall health is an important topic. I truly believe if this documentary stuck to that I would be less disappointed. Instead, it chose to focus the subjects on those dealing with infertility. I was drawn to it because of that, thinking that this may provide insight as someone who has been trying for over two years to conceive. Instead, this unnecessary film targeted the emotions of those who are trying to conceive without giving any real information. I continued to watch as the science was presented to me, all the while, hoping that there might be a piece of information that helps me in my journey. But why wouldn’t I? This is how it was marketed. So while all the science may be behind this series, it provides zero takeaway. Maybe that’s just me being sensitive; but then again, it focuses its audience and subjects on those who have been trying to conceive for two or more years. See more Shylee Sherese H @RT95155184 5d It covers the extremely important topic of the microplastic crisis, which is something that affects us all. And it does so in a way that offers hope.
