What to Know

Critics Consensus

At times fascinating in a can't-look-away fashion, Neighbors displays all the pitfalls within the spectrum of human decency, and lack thereof, in a mostly unpleasant series.

The series offers the best depiction of social media -- and the experience of being on it -- that I’ve seen on television. Go to Full Review

The series is a guilty kind of pleasure, though the pleasure is mostly grounded in a realization that you are not them. And that the things that really set these people off are often the things you overlook, if you want to be a good neighbor. Go to Full Review

A documentary without enough insight or empathy to recommend. Not today. Not in a country that’s already too isolated. Go to Full Review

There are no positive lessons or learning opportunities here. Instead, Neighbors is an attempt to exploit the worst in people for humorous reality entertainment. Go to Full Review

Neighbors is a fun look at how quickly things can go downhill between two people who have no other relationship other than living next to each other. Go to Full Review

Joe R. @ApeElvis 1d I struggled with the number of stars to give Neighbors far longer than I should have. Then I chickened out and gave it 3 out of 5 stars. If it’s fake, it’s too real. If it’s real, it’s too sad. See more Kimball R @RT57730250 1d This show is much more than a documentary about neighborly disputes. It is essentially a spectacle showcasing how neurotic, and at times mentally ill people interact with American culture and each other. The show does an excellent job at shedding light on why these seemingly boring disputes have unraveled into comically, and at times frighteningly, out-of-control clashes of character. I am docking stars because of the formatting of the show. The jump cuts between different sets of neighbors were far too frequent and many of the stories shown did not reach a conclusive ending, which was dissatisfying. I would have far preferred the documentary to follow through with the mediation process and come to an adequate closing for each group of people, instead of relegating them to a single episode. See more Jason B @MrMoovees 3d This might be the purest distillation of the defining American ethos of property ownership; every man a king, every home a castle. No one in the entire series is particularly defensible and the often insane pettiness of the disagreements that consumes their lives to which we are invited in to gawk and snicker at makes them look foolish, it's hard to look away. My only gripe is the flash cut editing of the episodes that gives the impression of a recap of previous episode is a little jarring but it also allows us to see more of the bizarre antics that make up the average week of each homeowner. There's some truly hilarious and embarrassing things that, somehow, these people don't see. Your "mileage may vary" depending on how comfortable you are laughing at people acting like this and having absolutely zero qualms sharing. As far as I'm concerned if they're ok with it, so am I. Maybe seeing themselves this way will persuade them to lay down their arms and get of with their lives. See more Denise H @Dnh00 4d This show is SO original and totally cracks me up - the halloween battle was my favorite one so far! See more Lorenz L @Lorenz1060 Mar 14 Wow. I have watched several episodes of this series. At first I found it mildly amusing, but now I am sickened by the creatures on which it focuses, and how they treat each other and their neighbours, and civilisation in general. It also has been helpful in clarifying for me a question which has been on my mind for some time, as well as on the minds of millions of others who, like me, do not live anywhere near America: so these are the people who in 2024 gave America the government it deserves. I now have a clearer understanding. See more Rob O @RT16770173 Mar 12 I find the bizarre behavior displayed by these people to be endlessly entertaining! See more Read all reviews
