Frederick K @Freddie1355 5d While the film itself is clearly dated, families face the same issues today as almost fifty years ago. With the expanding suburbia in the 1970’s most of the changes people faced were new. I think, now these changes and issues seem commonplace, though not so different. The main cast is pretty spot-on in their depiction of city-dwellers becoming suburbanites and what hilarity can ensue. Burnett commandeers the film, as one would expect, Grodin depicts his type handily and the kids do what kids will do. For me, this was kinda nostalgic as I was 13 years old growing up in Canton, Ohio when the film was released. I vividly remember this book being singled out that year with countless articles and stories about it. Old people like me, 61, will probably get a kick out of it …under 40 probably not!!!
