John Lilly and the Earth Coincidence Control Office (2025) EDIT “The somewhat impenetrable story of an impenetrable man, but fans of odd corners of the counterculture will find much to appreciate.” – The SS Ben Hecht May 8, 2026 Full Review The Truth and Tragedy of Moriah Wilson (2026) 80% EDIT “A considerably more tasteful true crime documentary than most of what’s on offer in that genre on Netflix.” – The SS Ben Hecht May 8, 2026 Full Review Changing Lanes (2025) EDIT “I love documentaries about urbanist policy battles, especially YIMBY vs. NIMBY stuff. If people in public meetings are yelling, all the better. And director Ben Wolf’s Changing Lanes has all of that and way more” – The SS Ben Hecht May 8, 2026 Full Review Lainey Wilson: Keepin' Country Cool (2026) EDIT “I’m not going to claim any fandom or expertise when it comes to country music, and I don’t feel like this doc went particularly deep into who Wilson is or exactly what makes her tick, although I did find her a compelling documentary subject” – The SS Ben Hecht May 8, 2026 Full Review Noah Kahan: Out of Body (2026) EDIT “I found myself intrigued by his story, and a bit more interested in checking out his music, although, like so many music docs, I feel like this was something of a commercial for both” – The SS Ben Hecht May 8, 2026 Full Review This Is Not a Drill (2025) EDIT “Compelling it all is the whole thing should come with a huge asterisk, because just about everything they did was undone in the Trump II era.” – The SS Ben Hecht May 8, 2026 Full Review The Last Twins (2025) EDIT “The best Holocaust documentary in recent memory.” – The SS Ben Hecht May 8, 2026 Full Review Billie Eilish - Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (Live in 3D) (2026) 90% EDIT “The film is a pretty fantastic concert film that makes great use of 3D technology, but when it tries to be a behind-the-scenes tour doc, it’s less successful, never getting much beyond the surface. ” – The SS Ben Hecht May 8, 2026 Full Review The Sheep Detectives (2026) 95% EDIT “Overall, it’s cute and heartwarming, and the mystery’s resolution was a surprise. ” – Splice Today May 8, 2026 Full Review Buffet Infinity (2025) 100% EDIT “Sounds like a gimmick, and it is. But it’s executed, despite a high degree of difficulty, to near-perfection” – Splice Today May 8, 2026 Full Review Grapefruit (2023) EDIT “A really wonderful meditation on recovery, forgiveness, and second chances” – The SS Ben Hecht Apr 30, 2026 Full Review Ricky (2025) 89% EDIT “Ricky is a thought-provoking movie about what happens when a man gets out, never having known freedom as an adult.” – The SS Ben Hecht Apr 30, 2026 Full Review Exit 8 (2025) 93% EDIT “ I’ve been in the Tokyo subway, and it is pretty confusing and labyrinth-like.” – The SS Ben Hecht Apr 30, 2026 Full Review Faces of Death (2026) 68% EDIT “It's essentially the structure of the Scream movies, except the killer is inspired not by the cliches of the horror canon” – The SS Ben Hecht Apr 30, 2026 Full Review Lee Cronin's The Mummy (2026) 47% EDIT “Not a particularly great monster movie, owing much more to the tradition of The Exorcist than to any of the past Mummy films” – The SS Ben Hecht Apr 30, 2026 Full Review Two Women (2025) 77% EDIT “Sometimes this sort of movie is a celebration of unabashed sexuality, and other times it’s more about shame, before defaulting back to the virtues of monogamy; this one splits the difference. ” – Living Life Fearless Apr 30, 2026 Full Review The Napa Boys (2025) 50% EDIT “The sort of movie that seems like it’s made up entirely of inside jokes that I’m not a part of.” – The SS Ben Hecht Apr 30, 2026 Full Review I Swear (2025) 97% EDIT “This is one of those projects where I admired its intentions more than I actually liked it as a movie” – The SS Ben Hecht Apr 30, 2026 Full Review Dry Leaf (2025) 93% EDIT “I’m not going to lie, it sounds impenetrable. But by the end, I was won over.” – The SS Ben Hecht Apr 30, 2026 Full Review Blue Heron (2025) 97% EDIT “This is a visually stunning film, and it makes a bold storytelling choice near the end that pays off perfectly.” – The SS Ben Hecht Apr 30, 2026 Full Review Everyone Is Lying to You for Money (2025) 100% EDIT “An entertaining documentary that takes the crypto-skeptic side, while also heavily featuring Ben McKenzie as an on-camera subject. But it feels in some ways incomplete. ” – The SS Ben Hecht Apr 30, 2026 Full Review Mother Mary (2026) 72% EDIT “One of those movies that’s stylistically very impressive, but I’m not sure there’s anything that interesting happening underneath it.” – Splice Today Apr 30, 2026 Full Review The Devil Wears Prada 2 (2026) 78% EDIT “A welcome return to this world, one that’s slickly produced, with just the right amount of fan service for fans of the first film and fashion obsessives. ” – Splice Today Apr 30, 2026 Full Review Over Your Dead Body (2026) 68% EDIT “The problem is that while I’ve enjoyed Segel as a performer, he’s not believable as someone who’d do violence to his wife, or to anyone else. ” – Splice Today Apr 30, 2026 Full Review Michael (2026) 39% EDIT “Jaafar Jackson capably channels his uncle, but Antoine Fuqua’s estate-approved biopic doesn’t let us in on the King of Pop’s story. ” – The SS Ben Hecht Apr 23, 2026 Full Review
