Zach Pope

Tomatometer-approved critic
Biography:

Zach Pope has been a fan of films since his earliest memory of going to see Toy Story 2… walking into a big building, smelling popcorn, walking down the dark hallway only lit up by movie posters all around, but when he finally sat down scared for what was going to happen in a room filled with darkness… a light shined onto the screen bringing all my nerves down to discover a brand new world. Movies are his life & he finds is the one thing that can bring anyone together. He reviews all films from indies to big blockbusters and everything in between. He is a huge believer that film is subjective and will give anything a fair shot. Film is Art & for me him it’s a getaway to so many incredible places.

Ready or Not 2: Here I Come (2026) 75% 3/5 EDIT “Slight disappointment… Here I Come is a gory follow-up that may not reach the original’s highs. leans harder into the lore, the humor is sharp, & brings plenty of chaos but some pacing issues hold it back from being truly memorable. Good not Great” – Zach Pope Reviews Mar 19, 2026 Full Review undertone (2025) 72% 4/5 EDIT “crawl under your skin & settle deep in your bones, making you question every sound & every shadow It pulls you into a suffocating sense of dread like something is about to latch onto you in the most demonic way possible” – Zach Pope Reviews Mar 12, 2026 Full Review Reminders of Him (2026) 56% 3/5 EDIT “The Best Colleen Hoover Adaptation mainly because of Maika Monroe & Tyriq Withers” – Zach Pope Reviews Mar 11, 2026 Full Review Project Hail Mary (2026) 95% 5/5 EDIT “Project Haile Mary is a masterpiece Cast Away meets Interstellar An emotional rollercoaster that will make you laugh, smile, cry, & fall in love. Rocky & Grace may be one of the best duos ever put to screen An Instant Sci-fi Classic Two thumbs Up ” – Zach Pope Reviews Mar 10, 2026 Full Review THE BRIDE! (2026) 57% 2.5/5 EDIT “An audacious, unique, and one-of-a-kind idea that’s brilliantly brought to life but sadly doesn’t hit the home run it was aiming for. I LOVE the concept, I LOVED Bale and Buckley so much, but the rest of the film felt repetitive and overly long.” – Zach Pope Reviews Mar 4, 2026 Full Review Hoppers (2026) 93% 5/5 EDIT “The next Pixar Classic! It’s hilarious, heartfelt, & rich with themes about our environment but even more about understanding the world & the people around us. I laughed incredibly hard and once again Pixar proves they can make you cry about anything” – Zach Pope Reviews Mar 2, 2026 Full Review Scream 7 (2026) 31% 2.5/5 EDIT “Scream 7 brings some classic nostalgic energy, catching us up with our favorite final girl and kicking off with real promise plus some downright killer kills. But despite the strong start, its reveals and stakes land with a thud” – Zach Pope Reviews Feb 27, 2026 Full Review How to Make a Killing (2026) 43% 4/5 EDIT “I was a huge fan of Emily the Criminal, so of course I dug John Patton Ford’s How to Make a Killing! It’s like your favorite drink: smooth, slick, and a bit fucked up. A nice twist on “eat the rich” while doubling down on what they can get away with.” – Zach Pope Reviews Feb 18, 2026 Full Review Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die (2025) 82% 4.5/5 EDIT “One of the most thought provoking sci-fi films of this decade An insane imaginative odyssey that speaks to AI, the issue with Doom scrolling, & where our society is going… but Gore Verbinski never forgets to make this entertaining & funny” – Zach Pope Reviews Feb 5, 2026 Full Review The Moment (2026) 66% 3.5/5 EDIT “Dives right into an industry that desperately latches onto anything popular & milks it dry for money until it explodes! This entertaining satire combined with Charli XCX creativity & Vulnerability makes this a good watch” – Zach Pope Reviews Feb 4, 2026 Full Review Dracula (2025) 54% 3.5/5 EDIT “Dracula is back! And the world is fleshed out pretty well!” – Zach Pope Reviews Jan 31, 2026 Full Review Shelter (2026) 65% 3/5 EDIT “The first certified DAD flick of 2026! An FX film delight that contains enough of a badass Jason statham to keep you entertained. Ric Roman Waugh continues to pave his way as the master of these underrated films. Is it perfect no? But I was entertained” – Zach Pope Reviews Jan 28, 2026 Full Review The Wrecking Crew (2026) 74% 4/5 EDIT “The Wrecking Crew is Bad Boys in Hawaii with Mortal Kombat Level Violence and I enjoyed it!” – Zach Pope Reviews Jan 28, 2026 Full Review All You Need Is Kill (2025) 83% 3.5/5 EDIT “A damn good anime movie that will blow you away with its visuals ” – Zach Pope Reviews Jan 28, 2026 Full Review Send Help (2026) 93% 4/5 EDIT “The Sam Raimi movie may have wanted to see him return to! Gruesome, nasty, twisted, funny, entertaining & most importantly all the Raimi Stylistic choices you would want McAdams & O’Brien take toxic work relationships to the next level.” – Zach Pope Reviews Jan 26, 2026 Full Review Mercy (2026) 25% 3/5 EDIT “shockingly solid. Given I didn’t have that big of expectations. There’s plenty of entertainment to be had here & good messages on the usage of AI & Relying on AI instead of using it as a tool” – Zach Pope Reviews Jan 21, 2026 Full Review The Testament of Ann Lee (2025) 86% 3/5 EDIT “You ever watch a movie that has everything that you could possibly want but still walk away unemotionally invested!? That’s this! Not for me but Amanda is incredible” – Zach Pope Reviews Jan 19, 2026 Full Review The Rip (2026) 79% 4/5 EDIT “Highly recommend The Rip this weekend on Netflix. Dirty Cops, Millions of Dollars, Affleck, Damon, & some massive shootouts. What more could you ask for? I wanted a thrilling time and I got it” – Zach Pope Reviews Jan 16, 2026 Full Review Dead Man's Wire (2025) 92% 4/5 EDIT “Bill Skarsgard best performance yet!” – Zach Pope Reviews Jan 15, 2026 Full Review 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple (2026) 92% 4.5/5 EDIT “The best one yet! It has evolved to its highest form and Nia DaCosta absolutely nailed it twisting the series into something even weirder more thought provoking and gloriously gory. Ralph Fiennes delivers an incredible performance Need the Finale now” – Zach Pope Reviews Jan 13, 2026 Full Review Greenland 2: Migration (2026) 49% 2.5/5 EDIT “A solid sequel even if it doesn’t do much with its concept. What should have been a genre twist from Disaster Flick to Post apocalyptic sadly never makes the full commitment to its ideas. Leaving everything feeling a bit one note & not as developed.” – Zach Pope Reviews Jan 8, 2026 Full Review Song Sung Blue (2025) 77% 3/5 EDIT “Great Performances but a lack of a second half really took me out of the experience” – Zach Pope Reviews Dec 23, 2025 Full Review Anaconda (2025) 48% 2/5 EDIT “Anaconda wants to be TROPIC THUNDER with its meta commentary on filmmaking and while it occasionally succeeds with some laughs I never found the film to actually go all out with its concepts. ” – Zach Pope Reviews Dec 23, 2025 Full Review The Housemaid (2025) 73% 3.5/5 EDIT “A huge surprise. I expected an interesting an slickly made drama with some thrilling moments & maybe one or two twists BUT WTF that was WILD. Twist after twist, I WAS TRYING TO NOT VERBALLY react multiple times. Great movie to watch with a full crowd” – Zach Pope Reviews Dec 17, 2025 Full Review Avatar: Fire and Ash (2025) 66% 5/5 EDIT “The perfect closing chapter for the Sully family… and an equally perfect beginning for what comes next. It’s a breathtaking epic that stuns with awe inspiring beauty, through emotional dark storytelling, and expands Pandora in ways that I needed” – Zach Pope Reviews Dec 16, 2025 Full Review
