It's often cheesy and it's not deep, despite repeated cameos for a copy of Marcel Proust's In Search of Lost Time, but it is, appropriately enough, the equal of The Equalizer.

It falters when it comes to action, especially during a climax that takes place in the middle of a storm, and where the violence becomes murky and hard to enjoy. “The Equalizer 2” never reaches the same level as its predecessor. Full review in Spanish.

The original Equalizer film with Denzel was definitely a stunner. I feel like this one was a bit of a step down, but not that far down from the original. Plus what makes it not feel like a sequel is the fact that his hair is grown in, in this film. Unless I’m missing something, it just feels like a continuity error throughout the whole movie and that’s one of the smaller reasons I gave this film one star less. Either way? Denzel Washington carried this film and I still loved it. Especially the hurricane sequence.

McCall returns as a Lyft driving vigilante while giving direction to a gangster in his community and finding the old colleagues that killed his close friend. This one was still good with some witty lines, it just didn't pull me in as much as the first movie did.

I really enjoyed this and it close to four stars. Once again very good from Denzel and this time with a revenge motive as well as saving some others. Also once again, the key to the success of the movie is the bad-ness of the baddy -a double crossing ex-army colleague which requires an extra level of attention and is well portrayed. The end sequence is excellent.
