Blake- N @PBSAniDom 3d Halloween H20: 20 Years Later is a pretty meh follow-up in the long-running Halloween series. It aims to recapture the tension and stripped-down survival horror vibe of the earlier films, but the execution feels uneven and somewhat safe. While it benefits from a late-90s slasher polish and a familiar setup within the franchise, it rarely builds the kind of sustained atmosphere or suspense the series is known for at its best. The pacing is serviceable but predictable, and the characters are functional without leaving much impact. There are moments where it hints at real intensity, but they don't consistently land, making the whole experience feel like it never fully commits to being either a bold reinvention or a truly memorable continuation. Honestly, with that ending, it should be the last one. But I digress, I really enjoyed this movie. For starters, I thought they handled Laurie’s story and characterization very well. Having her be an overprotective parent because of what happened to her 20 years ago is a perfect progression of her character arc. I also enjoyed her dynamic with Michael Myers in this movie. She knows he’s not dead despite what he’s been put through, so she makes sure he gets killed this time around leading to an amazing and shocking ending, The death of Michael Myers (for now)!! This is an amazing ending that should DEFINITELY have been the end of this timeline in my opinion. My biggest complaint with this movie is the Michael Myers mask. It’s so bad! But that’s just a minor complaint, it’s not like it ruined the movie for me or anything. But overall, this movie is a solid Halloween movie and could’ve been a great end to this timeline. If you’ve enjoyed the Halloween franchise thus far, you’ll probably like this one too! See more Read all reviews
