John Brown (Matthew Broderick) is a bumbling but well-intentioned security guard who is badly injured in an explosion planned by an evil mastermind. He is taken to a laboratory, where Brenda (Joely Fisher), a leading robotics surgeon, replaces his damaged limbs with state-of-the-art gadgets and tools. Named "Inspector Gadget" by the press, John -- along with his niece, Penny (Michelle Trachtenberg), and her trusty dog, Brain -- uses his new powers to discover who was behind the explosion.

Maybe it's the sheer distance from its creative wellspring, but this thingamajig makes for a profoundly stupid viewing experience. Even the filmmakers seemed to have been bored.

Ok because it explains how John Brown became Inspector Gadget in a terrible explosion by this man who is now know as Scolex and he put a cigarette right next to John Brown after John already crashed and Scolex got his hand crushed by a bowling ball and that is how he gets his claw and John had a big surgery to put all the gadgets in him. And this movie is quite funny and the gadget mobile talks Scolex’s plan was to create a robot that looked like Inspector Gadget called Robot Gadget to take over the world with his evil robot and his white smile is so creepy. Ok movie 8/10. And there is this girl called Brenda that John likes and there is this other girl called Penny and John Brown is Penny’s uncle and Penny is Johns niece there is this dog called Brain. And Dr. Claw’s real name is Sanford Scolex. He killed Artemis Bradford which is the father of Dr. Bradford.

Ends just when it gets going and then follows with ten minutes of outtake filler. Gets an extra half-star for Mathew Broderick's performance as the maniacal Robo-Gadget, and for some inspired sexual humor involving Joely Fischer.

I really enjoyed this movie. It was fun, Gadget was funny, and the fact that Matthew Broderick also plays Tack in Thief and The Cobbler is even better. I love both movies

Mi ricordo i cartoni animati divertenti e simpatici, dove Gadget non era altro che un povero tonto con la ragazzina che lo aiutava, facevano ridere. Questo filmaccio è tutt'altra roba completamente andata a male.
