Taken all together, “Our Hero, Balthazar” is a button pusher that holds up a mirror to America and asks what is performative and what is real. It also dwells on how we can get out of this quicksand trap that young men are trapped in right now. Go to Full Review

It's surprisingly funny and humanistic, but also a dark satire about the America in which we live. Go to Full Review

A black-comic acid bath that, in only an hour and a half, nods to so many contemporary concerns that it rivals last year’s “Eddington” in its scope... The film may not propose a solution to any of our maladies, but it’s a bitterly convincing diagnosis. Go to Full Review

The debut film from director Oscar Boyson and writer Ricky Camilleri stares into the empty soul of the nation, finding people who deserve more than their lot in life, and others who can destroy it without caring about what they’ve done. Go to Full Review

Navigating a tonal tightrope, this darkly provocative comedy lacks subtlety yet compensates with sincerity. Go to Full Review

Many recent films have tried (and failed) to deal with school shootings through humor & satire. This one manages to do that while taking a good, hard look at the weaponization of detached masculinity and never losing touch with the horrors it has amassed. Go to Full Review

Jessica H 1d This is such an intelligent movie. It's a searing look at how young people are affected by the attention economy and alienation of lives lived mostly online, and how breakdowns in our family bonds can spiral out to have ruinous consequences. The physical transformation of Asa Butterfield as Solomon is shocking - I had to check IMDB to make sure that was the same actor I know from his other projects. The acting, writing, directing and editing are all top-notch. Go see this movie. See more Amy Apr 5 Great film! Thought provoking , edgy, uncomfortable, confrontational, are words that come to mind while on this roller coaster ride with Jaeden and Asa. Definitely worth checking out! See more David Apr 5 Brilliant, hilarious and makes you think See more Moody C @MoodyC 1d At 1st glance looks like a film on gun violence but it’s about a lot more topics such as mental illness, loneliness, social media, wealth inequality, dysfunctional parents, & much more. It’s riveting drama since there are 2 mentally unstable males with guns & just when you think it’s predictable, it’s not. Problem is we are left with so many issues, viewers not really sure central msg of film & abundance of topics cheapens it because it feels they are done solely for entertainment & shock value alone. But it was a thrilling hr & half ride. See more Roger K. @rkahn 4d Edgy, complex and unforgettable. A must see. Indie at its best See more Rob H @RT72842531 Apr 27 I genuinely thought each cast member was the actual actor being portrayed, like a documentary. It moved fast and keeps you on the edge. Extremely current and will instantly become a cult classic. If only I could make myself cry on command. See more Read all reviews
