Critics Consensus

A visually tacky sequel that lumbers along with a plodding pulse and lacking the thematic resonance that distinguished its source material, Return to Silent Hill gets lost in the haze.

Die-hard fans may get a kick out of seeing the monstrosities of Silent Hill on the big screen. But this return trip to gaming’s most terrifying town won’t leave you scared — just bored. Go to Full Review

Without any of the game’s tension-releasing exploration and puzzle-solving breaks, it has a nightmare flow, constantly upending its own logic and the geometry of its spaces. Go to Full Review

I do not understand how it seems to be monumentally difficult to adapt one of these games into a film. It might be time to stop trying. Go to Full Review

... a generic film that could belong to any franchise, incapable of capturing what made Silent Hill such a personal and enduring experience. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Fernando 9h As a great fan of the game, I have to recognize the attention to detail and the accuracy of characters, scenarios, and enemies, but the plot is floppy, and there is a lack of enemy encounters, which makes the movie boring See more Silent Hill Game Fan 14h Big disappointment. So much potential, but wasted. See more Irene 20h Silent Hill - Very confusing. The fans have waited and waited years for the story of James and Mary, What we got was a convoluted one. It began promising but then went off in different directions that was difficult to keep up with, all the while trying to remember what happened in the other two movies, in order to see if everything aligned with this one. I did love the casting, but Jeremy Irvine (James) kind of bothered me. At times I thought he was perfect, and then at others, it was a bit cringe. And Pyramid Head I'm sorry to say was not menacing at all. Bottom line, the entire film needed to be a bit scarier. I'l rewatch again when it streams, but I'm glad that I chose to see it at the theater on a bigger screen than what I have at home. LOL Silent Hill 4 ever. See more MajolicasShine 23h This movie is not only terrible, but manages to both pay so little homage to the source materials to not get it and to be exceptionally over indulgent in fan theory Silent Hill lore. Occasionally the VFX looks interesting, and other times the acting wasnt the most offensive thing, but in the end there is very little redeeming about this film. See more Alex 1d I like it , real cool visuals , it reminds me of the sin city movies , were it’s all cgi backgrounds with real actors , it was too long though See more Joe 1d What da hell going on See more Read all reviews
