Romas M @Romas Sep 1 Greetings from Lithuania. "RoboCop 2" (1990) is a heads and shoulders below a first RoboCop - the original is a great movie. This one on the other hand is way less interesting. It is not a bad movie, but fells flat in comparison with first one. "RoboCop 2" is a very violent film, and not in a good way. First one while was bloody and goory, never was disgusting or showed graphical violence without reason. This one unfortunately does. It also features a sequence so dumb and so off that i was rolling my eyes during it when RoboCop gets "reprogrammed" and starts to act silly. The violence that is being done by children 10 years old boys and girls is nothing short but bad. Who was the target audience for this? It wasn't funny, that is for sure. Overall, "RoboCop 2" has a mixed plot, mixed pacing and a lot of unnecessary violence coming from young children. It is not a bad film by any means, and i did enjoyed it over the years as a lesser sequel and mindless fun, but i encourage you to rewatch the original instead. See more Frans B @FransB Aug 19 Obvious from the start that the original scriptwriters, Neumeier and Miner, was not involved, as was Verhoeven omitted. Well, that rough draft was the basis for the 2019 Return, fortunately. Miller and Green did this script and directing by Kershner is not that bad, but not the Verhoeven rock solid type. Story nevertheless good and whole cast excels in character. Cinematography and visual effects also good. If you are a Robocop fan, well, this will do just fine. The plot seemed to jump from one concept to another without enough development, making it hard for the audience to connect with the characters or understand their motivations. Despite the potential in the original vision, this lack of clarity ultimately detracted from the overall experience. While it's definitely not as good as the original Robocop, I always thought this was a solid sequel that was a lot of fun. For me, it's just more of the first movie with the awesome stop-motion special effects and over the top violence. Plus you get Peter Weller, Nancy Allen, and a couple others reprising their roles from the first film. Tom Noonan is a fun villain as well. See more John D Apr 17 So much fun!
