There are some good battle scenes too but the basic plot was a little bland. I thought it was no better than average really, overall. See more 12/21/2021 I'm so annoyed I wasted my time waiting for this movie to get better. There's no passion, no character, no creativity, no good plot. It's like a WWI era Twilight plot but worse acting and less chemistry, while whitewashing the brutal Armenian genocide. The lead males would maybe be OK if it weren't for the bad, uninteresting script. I don't know who the heck casted the lead actress, but she brings nothing to the character. See more 05/22/2021 This film exploits the Armenian Genocide as a plot device to create a clichéd story about star-crossed lovers. The Ottoman Lieutenant whitewashed history and exploits the very real suffering of the Armenian people. There are no Armenian main characters, nor do any of the Armenian extras have any agency over their situation. Genocide should not be used as a background to make your main characters into sympathetic white saviors. Moreso, when one of the main characters is complicit in the genocide for 3/4 of the film.
