The artistic finesse of the film leaves, perhaps, just a little bit more to be desired - it's a case of applauding a message more than its overeager medium. Go to Full Review

Although rather a stark morality tale, the short has enough humanity and empathy in it to engage our attention. Go to Full Review

The family is weak, and the supporting cast isn't much of a cast at all. Yes, there's other siblings, but they aren't impressionable or notable in any way. Go to Full Review

Beautifully shot and scored though it is, it's the strength of the writing and Shelton's deeply compassionate performance that really makes this one soar. Go to Full Review

It's an unusual sort of bigotry on display here, one that many of us who aren't personally touched by the issue may not even be aware of. Absolutely heartbreaking. Go to Full Review

Charlie C @Lushe 1h The name of this incredible movie in my opinion is the silent child. It is directed by Chris Overton. The principals actor are Rachel Fielding, Rachel Shenton and Maisie Sly. It’s a drama movie. It’s told the story of a young girl, Libby. She was born deaf. Her mother, Sue, called Joanne. She came to her house to learn somethings to the little girl and learn to she to be sociable. Then Joanne be going learn to Libby the sign language, but Sue don’t like that. It’s a beautiful relation. In my opinion, Maisie Sly have an incredible acting for a little she look like she isn’t a first ever actor, she acting of other actor is also very nice. The director use a lot of film technic like rush or loog shot sometime in a high angle shot. He didn’t use special effect, it’s more natural, I prefer. the message of this movie, it’s to show at the world the importance to learn the sign language because they are a lot of deaf children in the world but not a lot of people know this. See more Serena V @Serenavdwo 1h First of all, the movie's name si "The Silent Child". There are six actors. Tow parents who named Suzanne and Paul. Libby is deaf, cause of that Joanne arrived. She learn to libby lip reading and sign language. The Libby's parents don't know how to talk to her. They don't take care of her. Later in the movie Libby is going to talk very well with sign language. These paraents are worried about that, the fact of no one talk her "language" and they will have to make a decison. Joanne may be vired ? The actors game is highly goo. Then the athmosphere of the movie is really sad. The saturation is goo. There are a lot of close up shot and long shot. The message is that people who are deaf can talk with other people. They have to be strong. Finally, I think this movie is a ten on ten because this shows the real life of See more Tiara L @Tiara15 3h The Silent Child is directed by Chris Overton. The action take place in England in a small city. It tell the story of Libby played by M.Sly who is a deaf little girl who struggle to have a good social life. One day her parents call a girl named Joanne played by R.Shenton that will help Libby to talk in sign language.Actually I think the plot was good and moving because it make you feel sad for her since people don’t understand her struggle. The photography was breathtaking. I liked the film techniques like over the shoulder shot, medium shot and head close up to show emotions. The acting was good and emotional. It make you feel sad and want to help her. However it’s a great message for spectator, it sensibilize you, deaf children are not different, they can do the same thing as hearing children.Overall this film is highly recommended and you are going to enjoy it. However, the mother really want that her daughter goes to school like a "normal" child. Besides, the differents angles of plans during the film are really interesting. We can enter in the head of Libby with a large plan during the dinner. There is also close up plans who describe the emotions of the young girl. Moreover, the music have an important role. During the silents moments, the music help us to feel the emotions. The scene with the violons was amazingly touching. The story talk about a dead child, who don’t follows what we’re saying really well. His parents works a lot, so they didn’t spend time with she. The girl is very close with his sentiments because she can’t explain who she thinks. In this short film, we can see a lot of close-up plans. This creates emotions for the people who watched and this is very important. This can touched all the people because it’s a child so everybody can understand. You going to loves this movie because it’s a subject who touched all the people. It can explain who Deafness is not a learning difficulty.
