A gleefully goofy morality tale about where acute kanjoosi can lead. The highlight of Toaster is the writing and the performances. Go to Full Review

In execution, this is nothing but dull constructed slop, which keeps getting worse as it goes along, with not even Rao, who is in practically every frame, able to rescue it. Go to Full Review

Other than Archana Puran Singh’s scene-stealing presence, nothing really works for "Toaster," which ends up being just another lame Mumbai comedy that borrows heavily from the Kunal Khemu school of crime-caper minus the sense of humour of being one. Go to Full Review
Shreyas Pande The Hindu Apr 15
Through all the laughs and chaos however, there is little to stay invested in Ramakant. As the film almost falls apart after a perverse twist in the mid-point, there is nothing much left to revive it. Go to Full Review

It is a light-hearted comedy that pokes good-natured fun at people who are stingy with their money without ever hitting below the belt. Go to Full Review

Teamwork C @RT90665251 Apr 25 Went in expecting a quirky, dark comedy with a fresh angle, but Toaster just doesn’t deliver. The premise actually sounds promising on paper, but the execution falls flat. The humour feels forced, the pacing is all over the place, and the story never really finds its footing. It’s the kind of film where you keep waiting for something clever or memorable to happen—but it just drifts along without a proper payoff. What’s most surprising is seeing Rajkummar Rao in a project like this. He’s usually known for strong script choices and grounded performances, but here even he seems limited by the material. He does what he can, but the writing doesn’t give him much to work with. Overall, it feels like a missed opportunity. A decent idea let down by weak storytelling and inconsistent tone. Verdict: Disappointing. Not one I’d recommend—there are far better options out there. Rao is simply great in this type of Genre. See more Milind T. @milind3118 Apr 20 Absolutely rotten.Wasted talent on a completely meaningless script.
